Little Theatres: Homage to the Mineral of Cabbage
The theatre is usually a place where larger-than-life stories are explored; in “Little Theatres”, we look between the tiny cracks, for the beauty and subtleties that often go unnoticed. “Teatrinos: Homenaxe ao mineral do repolo” is a film about cabbage: a simple vegetable, with many layers. Stephanie Dudley Canada 2010
Loom Loom tells the story of a successful catch. A moth being caught in a spiders web. Struggling for an escape, the moths panic movements only result in less chance of survival. What follows is the type of causality everyone’s expecting. The spider appears, claims its prey and feeds on it. The way nature works. But it’s the point of view that creates an intense relationship between the hunter and its victim. There is much more to explore, much more to feel if one takes the time to really experience the content of a split second. Jan Bitzer, Ilija Brunck & Csaba Letay 2010

Much Better Now
The main character is a bookmark, stuck in a forgotten book, in a life marked by standstill in a deserted room. One day wind knocks over the book and blows the bookmark onto the table, separating them. Unfolding hands and feet, the bookmark is swept back into the pages that turn into ocean waves and the two are united for a journey. With a surfboard it experiences its environment in a new way - wipe-outs, washouts and nosedives connect the hero to the ocean. The bookmark enjoys the ride of its life. As the book cover closes, the protagonist tries to get back into the book but fails. Light reveals other parts of the room packed with bookshelves and it faces new challenges. Paper Touch
Paper Touch
The main theme is to play with paper and explore the possibilities of creating visual illusions with stop-motion animation. Using traditional materials with the assistance of computer software, we wanted to combine old and new technology to make something different. The sequence is like a visual music - the colors and shapes are the instruments. It starts in black and white, slowly develops into color, and in the end returns to black and white. The shape morphs from two-dimensional to three-dimensional. We wanted to play a visual game which was both serious and fun. Just like life, contradiction and harmony often coexist. Places Other People Have Lived 'Places Other People Have Lived' is a mixed media exploration of the relationship between memory and place, as examined through the sale of a childhood home. Using old photographs, recorded interviews with family members, and multiple animation techniques, the film deconstructs room-by-room a house that was a family home for more than 25 years. What begins as a biography of a house, told through bittersweet and sometimes humorous personal anecdotes, ultimately raises larger questions about the emotional content of physical spaces, and what happens to our histories when we leave those places behind. Typesetter Blues
Typesetter Blues
Typesetter Blues is a 3-minute animated short starring a likeable monster named Harold. In this melancholy monster love story, Harold falls for a new coworker, who unfortunately falls harder for someone else. Typesetter Blues is written in the English nonsense poetry tradition of Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll, and Ogden Nash, putting a humorous spin on realistic situations and imbuing them with emotion and energy. Also influenced by the wry tones of Robert Service and Shel Silverstein, Typesetter Blues is a carefully crafted piece, paying attention to story, image and sound. The mixed-media animation will reference the design elements of the printing process so that the setting of the print shop becomes part of the aesthetic as well as a key element of the story. When at a Certain Party in NYC
When at a Certain Party in NYC
Amy Schmitt's film, based on the poem 'When at a Certain Party in NYC' by Erin Belieu, utilizes a flat illustrated style with plenty of movement to add life to a 2D world. Transitioning through different scenes of New York, the piece follows the journey of the female protagonist through colorful illustrations, punctuated by the dry sarcastic tone of the male voiceover, provided by motion504 Founder Andy Reynolds.'I've always had my eye on this poem and was drawn to the idea of a beat poet,' explains Schmitt. 'I wanted the pace to be fast and to flow into a stream of consciousness. Andy's read really lends some hardness to this film, contrasting the female character with the cynical undertone of the poem itself.' Amy Schmitt U S A 2011
