Evan DeRushie
Evan DeRushie is a Hamilton, ON. born stop-motion director and studio owner. After growing up as an animator at Cuppa Coffee studios, making two original short films, and animating on the feature film ""The Little Prince"", Evan formed a studio in Toronto called Stop Motion Department in 2018 with partner Philip Eddolls. SMD Studio has produced documentary visuals for Focus Features’ ""The AI Doc"", a TV series ""Bumpadoo!"" for TVO Kids, and three short films with long-time production partner Taqqut Productions. Evan was animation director and DP on two of these Inuit-language films, including director Zacharias Kunuk’s film ""Angakusajaujuq: The Shaman’s Apprentice""(award winner at TIFF, OIAF and the Canadian Screen Awards), and ""Mangittatuarjuk: The Gnawer of Rocks"" from director Louise Flaherty, which screened at Sundance Film Festival 2026.
