ACCESSIBILITY
We strive to ensure TAAFI’s venues are always accessible to people in wheelchairs or with any other mobility impairments. Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, Dark Slope, Toronto Metropolitan, and George Brown College all have barrier-free access as well as barrier-free washroom facilities. If you have concerns about our venues, please reach out to our team at info@taafi.com and someone will be in touch to discuss this with you.
Accessible Seating
Accessible seating locations are available in all cinemas at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema. Seating is limited and cannot be guaranteed; it is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please notify our team if you are in need of reserved seating for an event to ensure you get the most out of it and we will be happy to accommodate.
Audio descriptive and subtitling
The accessibility features we offer at our events vary. At our Industry Conference, we offer live subtitling and translation through Wordly.AI which allows not only subtitles in English, but the software can dynamically translate into whatever your preferred language is.
At Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, we do not presently have subtitling available on all films. We are working hard to make this possible. If you are hearing impaired and would like assistance to be available for you at our screenings, please reach out to us at info@taafi.com and we are happy to work with you to find a solution.
Barrier Free Accommodations
There may be lineups at Box Office, Concessions, or as you enter our venues. If you are unable to wait in line, please speak to a STAAFI member for assistance.
Companion Seating/Support
All support persons are welcome. Support persons will not be charged for a ticket but must have one. Accessible and companion seating must be booked at least 48 hours in advance via e-mail at info@taafi.com. If you are within the 48 hour window, we cannot guarantee space as our venues are first come first served but we will do our best to accommodate. If you’ve purchased a pass and require a companion, please advise us at info@taafi.com so we can work with you to provide adequate accommodations.
Service and Support Animals
Guide dogs and service animals are welcome in all spaces at our event, including the cinema. Emotional support animals will be permitted on a discretionary basis. Front of House staff may request that you provide documentation from a regulated health professional confirming the animal is required as per the AODA’s Customer Service Standards. Please let Front of House staff know if your service animal needs water or any assistance.
Content Advisories
Content Advisories are intended to help inform audiences about content they may appreciate knowing about prior to viewing. They are listed, where applicable, in our festival program and on our website. You can find a list of applicable content advisories on each film page, directly beneath the film synopsis and above the genre tags
We are committed to working with the members of our community to ensure safe spaces for all. If we have not met your concern, please reach out to us at info@taafi.com for further assistance.
