Darren Cranford

Darren Cranford is a Canadian artist, animator, and visual effects creative with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and more than 25 years of experience in film, television, and animation. Originally from Canada’s East Coast, Darren has built a career that bridges fine art, storytelling, and screen-based visual design, earning recognition for his work in art direction, VFX supervision, directing, and storyboarding.

He is the co-owner of Krow VFX, a long-established visual effects and animation studio known for its work with major clients including Netflix, NBCUniversal, and 20th Century Fox. Krow has recently joined with two partner companies to form Ticket VFX, which is part of the CASO group, bringing together a broader collective of creative and production talent across high-end film and episodic work. Through these companies, Darren and his teams have contributed to major productions including Netflix’s Frankenstein, as well as current series work. Krow VFX also recently completed work on the recently launched Netflix series Finding Her Edge.

In addition to his studio leadership, Darren is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada and the Visual Effects Society, and has served on advisory boards for several notable colleges and universities in Ontario. He is also a Canadian Screen Award–nominated director in animation, recognized for his creative leadership and contributions to the field.

Beyond film and television, Darren is also an accomplished fine artist and children’s book illustrator, bringing a strong traditional art foundation and a deep sense of storytelling to all aspects of his creative practice.
