Michelle Lorimer
Michelle Lorimer composes music for screen and for concert stage. Michelle composed the music for the short animated film, Rocketship Mai, as part of the team for ACE Canada's Women in Animation 4 program. She has scored music for a variety of Canadian documentaries, such as Crossing the Divide, directed by Chrisann Hessing, Words Left Unspoken and Loud and Here, directed by Josiane Blanc, and When I Go Outside, directed by Geordie Sabbagh. She’s worked as assistant composer to Bruce Fowler, scoring music for Bug Sex, It’s Complicated, an episode of CBC’s The Nature of Things, directed by Andrew Gregg. She has also worked as an orchestrator for Kevin Lau’s music for the upcoming film, The Housewife. In addition to film music, Michelle loves to compose music for live ensemble. Her concert music has been performed and read by a variety of Canadian and American musicians & ensembles, including Sonority Sisters, Nu Quintet, Duo Holz, the Gaia Quartet, the Peterborough Concert Band, Alberta Winds, the Whispering River Orchestra and the TSO.
