A fundamental truth in animation — and art in general — is simple: practice makes perfect. Strong drawing fundamentals are at the heart of great animation, and gesture drawing is an essential tool that can teach an animator to see, understand and draw movement.
Join instructor Joshua Miller from Animation Portfolio Workshop for a high-energy gesture drawing session designed specifically for animators and visual storytellers. Working with a costumed live model performing a series of dynamic sequential poses, participants apply the gesture drawing exercise to poses in motion.
Artists of all levels of experience are welcome — from industry professionals looking to sharpen their skills to beginners taking their first steps in figure drawing. This session focuses on gesture drawing applied to movement - when understood and practised, these two things form a strong foundation for animation.
Bring your sketchbook, plenty of paper, your favorite drawing tools, and most importantly your openness to learn, experiment, and push your artistic instincts.
Special thanks to the incredible team at Animation Portfolio Workshop — Bernadette Peets, Gerard Sternik, Joshua Miller, and Vince Peets — for bringing this dynamic workshop to TAAFI.
